The Józef Tischner Award
The Award was founded in the year 2001 by the monthly Znak, the publishing house Znak and the insurance company Ergo Hestia to promote the way of thinking and working in agreement with the values of Józef Tischner's philosophy.
The award is presented in three categories: philosophy, religious thought and social commitment in spreading the main values of the Tischner's philosophy and in solidarity with the others:
1. Religious and philosophical writing that continues "the thinking according to the values" of Tischner
2. Writing articles or essays on social issues that teach accepting "the unfortunate gift of freedom"
3. Pastoral and social initiatives that co-create "the form of Polish dialogue between the Church and the world".
The prize is awarded each year during the conference "The Tischner Days".
